Going to University, albeit exciting, can be quite daunting. While you get underway in the academic side of university you should also take advantage of what the city of Preston has to offer.

Preston is a brilliant city that has many different activities to help boost your personal wellbeing. One of the particular favourites being the pub, which Preston is home to over 100 of including the award winning Black Horse.

If pubs are not your scene you can find solace at the Harris museum which is expected to reopen in Spring of 2025, take a wander down to the stunning Avenham Park, have a coffee at a number of cafes, see a gig at The Ferret or go shopping at the Miller Arcade!

For those that want to venture further outside of the city, Prestons' train station means that cities like Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster are a stone's throw away as well as the sprawling countryside like the Beacon Fell Country Park.

The University itself is not only host to the library and your course but also societies that have something on offer for everybody.

From sports like football, rugby, and american football to niche societies such as the K-Pop Society and Gaming Society.

Clubs and societies can help to clear your head after a long day of study and allow you to foster new long-lasting friendships.

It would not be an article on wellbeing if we were not to include that tutors and lecturers are there to help you when your mental health might be struggling.

The university also offers a Health and Wellbeing service that can provide you guidance and counselling should the need arise.

This comes at time when support needed for depression and anxiety is at an all-time high.

You should seek to make the most of student life during your time in Preston and immerse yourself in each available opportunity.

Do not feel as if you need to isolate yourself as there will undoubtedly be something for you. As they say, life is what you make of it.
